Robocop Meeting, Tue Sept 15th * Issues: -no one has access to the repositories with the starter code -non-UofT people haven't been given a cdf account yet * We should set up a mailing list for the project. Options: - create a google group - set up a mailing list on DrProject when we get access * Idea: Use reviewvoard one of the other teams will be using reviewboard, and I'm used to it from KDE, so I think it'd be a good thing to have. alexnico: it's a web thing; we'd need it set up on a server somewhere, and it needs access to our svn repo. perhaps we could ask the MarkUs guys where they're hosting their reviewboard server Greg Wilson should be able to provide us with a place to host it if need be * Useful links: - message board for the summer term: https://csc.cdf.toronto.edu/bb/YaBB.pl?board=CSC494H1Y - sample robocup client : http://jmvidal.cse.sc.edu/biter/ * Problems compiling and running the server and monitor I cant even get the rcssserver to install properly so I haven't been able to do much, besides read the manual a few times Brent_M : Did you able to compile the code? Brent, what OS are you on? I'm using ubuntu through VMware errors? Don't seem to be able to get any code out of the repository. I know there were a few issues with our group. I can do the configuring but when I run the make file it gives me a syntax error in coach_lang_parser.ypp How easy it is to build the rcssserver code depends a lot on what distro you're using. o.0 i had a bit of trouble running the monitor due to font issues, changing the config file helped with that, no compile issues here though well, its ubuntu 8.04, I had to use an older version so that it'd run at a decent speed The default Fedora 8 one seems to have just about everything installed that you need, but Debian Etch has at least flex and boostlib missing. i used ubuntu to compile and there were just few packages that i needed to install before i could compile it i compiled on ubuntu 8.04 running in Parallels on Mac yeah i had to get the boostlib as well, and i needed byacc which is what says theres a syntax error I only got the server and monitor compiled. the logviewer seems to have some moc file that was generated with an older version of qt; I'm not sure what moc files are doing in svn in the first place. :P Also, what particular packages you need from distro to distro varies a lot. E.g. boostlib is one package on some, multiple packages on another. Does the code from this past summer include its own server and monitor? chani: i seem to remember having a problem with the viewer too, i didn't spend any time on it and just dropped fixing it for now It may be that byacc is not the correct package. There are various packages that seem to contain a flex utility, and not all flexes are equal. * Chani is using arch. with custom qt. no flex issues here The code from the summer project teams only includes clients. They run against the standard server. * Philip will try to get us access to the repositories soon, and in the meantime will email us the non-final version of one of the clients develped over the summer * Next meeting: Saturday 2pm Eastern
