ugh. Traveller's Diarrhoea is really annoying :P I don't feel sick, but I'm afraid to get too far from my bathroom. at this point I'm afraid to even sneeze. I missed the quiz this morning because of it... if this doesn't clear up soon I guess I should start taking the medicine I brought from canada.
at least it gives me an excuse to spend lots of time online, I guess.

I'm feeling a fair bit homesick right now. I miss salads, and sandwiches, and mexican food, and sushi, and.. anything that's not cooked in a ton of oil! there is some nice food here, but eveything has too much oil, and I'm starting to get sick of it... I miss having a kitchen. and a bathtub. and clean water. and raw veggies being safe to eat. not having to worry about bacteria with every nice-tasting thing. sanitation standards. mosquitoes that are easy to kill, and don't still get in when you've taped up every frigging opening and hole. knowing the names of simple products like baking soda. whole wheat bread. any bread that doesn't taste like it's half sugar. mild weather. dry air.

one good thing here, though, is the drinks. pop is rare - there only appears to be coke and sprite. there are a zillion types of juice and juice-like drinks. coconut milk. milky fruit drinks. large bottles of something halfway between yogurt and yop (only in 3 flavours, though: plain, aloe [so I'm told] and strawberry). tea-like drinks.
oh yeah, and there's the nice veggie restaurant downtown that we're going to tonight. my stomach will probably hate me for it, but I can't eat nothing but bread all *day*.

I've almost turned vegetarian here, too - the meat dishes just seem icky to me, and now meat in general is starting to seem icky. I think my comment on Pete's blog sums it up.
